Peaty moorland of les OignonsBoz
A peat bog in the Saone Valley! Here at Boz the peat is acidic, a very unusual feature for this region and at the height of 200 metres above sea level. This special area is home to amphibians, dragon-flies, historical plants, wetlands and marshes. An information board on site is a very helpful guide.

This area consists of the huge meadows of the Saone valley and the hedged farmland of Bresse. To the west the rich meadows, floodplain of the Saone, dedicated to cattle and agriculture. This area is of great interest as much for its birdlife as for its plant life. Here you can see common curlews, black-tailed godwits, grasshopper warblers, skylarks and wheatears, “Rale des Genets”(groaning broom) among others.

Sand dunes of "Les Charmes"Sermoyer
The sand dunes known as “les Charmes” are a big surprise so far from the sea, and are the product of winds and flood waters. The open spaces are surrounded by woodland and some wetlands. This variety of natural habitats encourages an exceptional variety of species. A pedestrian path of 1.5km leads you round and helps you to discover the riches of this rare site, thanks to the presence of a series of signs and labels.
