Fortified town of Savoie, facing the kingdom of France. Pont-de-Vaux retains the tight layout due to the surrounding walls of the 13th century. Traces of ramparts, mullioned windows, renaissance columns and wooden-sided houses are to be found scattered in this little commercial city of Bresse. However, the town has grown with the times and there are also 18th century townhouses with classical facades. Don’t forget to visit the very good Wednesday morning market!
