The Bresse region
Bresse is a region of a gently rolling farmland, with many rivers, where life is good. Side roads and country paths crisscross forests and small rivers. At a bend in a road, you can discover stunning half-timbered farmhouses topped by a Saracen chimney looking like an unusual mitre.
Bresse is synonymous with poultry... and in the area of Bâgé and Pont de Vaux, you are in the heart of the farming region. The famous blue footed chicken, the only poultry awarded a certification of origin (AOP) is the product of a unique local expertise and a unique region. It remains one of the main assets of the local cuisine.
Every year, a major poultry contest of international renown is organised during the Glorieuses de Bresse festival, where chickens, pullets and capons take pride of place.
